THE ADVISORS
2005
WRITER / PRODUCER / DIRECTOR / EDITOR
Duration: 25 minutes
Synopsis:
A young woman is told by her legal advisor that a man she knows would like to take her for a date. The reason , she is told, is because new laws have been introduced in which all dating rituals must be preceeded by a detailed document of consent. Only afer signing an agreement will she be allowed to know the identity of her admirer. Reluctantly she signs, but to her surprise, finds that her admirer is the man she hoped it would be.
A nightmare of paperwork must then be overcome before even the first date can occur. The two would be lovers find themselves manipulated by their advisors in an endless contest over small-print one-up manship.
Production notes:
Radically different to his previous works, this is Rob Ager's most commercial film. The script was written to take advantage of a free filming location and to allow the director to spend more time on acting and dialogue sequences. Though the pre-production duration was a fraction of that for The Victim or The Sex Game, the three day shoot finished a half day ahead of schedule.
Due to his lack of faith in the film festival circuit, Rob has not submitted this film to any festivals.
